High Level Network Design Considerations In today’s converged network environments, all involved network technologies and systems need a much higher level of interactive collaborations between them.
Same entails for a very comprehensive, expert and a holistic approach to network design and conception. Individual logical network segments like transmission, core network, intended services and applications must be approached in an integrated way for effective outcome. A high Level Network Architecture must include: - Detailed project plan
- Clear and comprehensive picture of network topology and traffic and capacity patterns
- End-to-end IP network modeling and design
- Network management considerations
- High-level network design including overall topology, network diagrams depicting major equipment layout and layer 1 connections, and multi-vendor integration including project recommendations.
- Detail Network Design
Detail Network Design must include: - Engineering Design encompassing:
- Equipment layout and Layer 1 connections
- Detailed configuration information
- Naming conventions (site names, LSPs, circuits)
- IP addressing for all regional routes
- Layer 2 detailed design
- Layer 3 detailed design
- Node configuration text files (running configurations)
- System installation requirements
- System integration requirements
- Detailed equipment lists and naming conventions
- Detailed Network Management System (NMS) information
- Protocol lists and their application to the design
- Progress reports and project documentation
